Sara Sussman Woman Holding a Balance a curtain of light unfurls itself from a window. a lady smiles into all these spider-spectrums and shadows. her delicate fingertips rest on a set of brass scales, and linger, linger inside the pearly curves. the scales sway whispering the truth out loud it has never been told this way before, in a swift stroke; it is enough. this white night floods into a fleeting undying dawn.
i step away from this canvas, and i hear a car alarm. it sounds like a strain of music for an instant.
