Toby Armstrong

Yawn

Drifting round a starry sky, as I sleep and dream.

Floating about a wispy cloud, weightless it would seem.

Till my alarm clock shrieks out BEEEP in the early day

Ripped from the sky back into bed, where I lay.

Body awake mind still asleep, I open just one eye.

I’m in my room tucked in my bed, not the starry sky?

Half awake I try and stand, but fall back into bed.

Drunk off dreams, not yet awake deep inside my head.

A zombie of the morning, disgruntled by the light.

If only it were still just ten o’ clock last night.

Instead it’s time to wake, a challenge every time.

Why does school start early, it should start at half past nine.
