Amber Pardes

Faced with Fear

Lights start to fade out as the mind begins to wander.
Eyes flutter, but the car stays in motion,
remaining the same.
Reality becomes blurred as her head drops.
For this, she only has herself to blame.
Traffic lights swich from green to red.
The wheels are still turning
and time is still moving forward.
Life is not a game.
You can't take away the pain of a dead man's family.

She was supposed to be in control of the car and steer.
If she did, the unpleasant picture
of a dead mother and her daughter wouldn't  appear.
Letting go,
she forces her fingers to release,
glass shatters on the floor and the carpet is stained with beer.
How could she have let this happen?
From her droopy eyes,
she casts a tear.
Time is still moving forward,
but for a loving husband and father it will never be
as it was before.
When this horrible tragedy,
was only a fear.
