Without Any Words

Her eyes –
he sees her

Fear burning
in her eyes

Her pleas
he hears her

Needs to go back
above the crack, crackling of the fire
in those pleas

Her hand, clutching a stuffed animal
he takes her

Sweaty hand
and leads her home

Warm and snug
his hand felt so sincere

Consolation,
his presence brought

Only he
could help her escape

the fear
He had the greatest power
of all

No words were needed
for him to show

Her –
he loved her

And she –
she loved him.
