Bewitched

Light over yonder,
Have you forsaken me?
So close yet teasing
Me with your
Glimpse of hope.

The tiny glow,
Sending slivers of purity;
Cruel temptation
Drawing me closer…
And closer still.

I reach out trying,
Trying to grasp;
To hold that piece of brightness
That is forever
Taunting, tempting.

I steal near,
Towards what seems
Like the safe haven that is
Surrounded by darkness,
Which no light penetrates.

One flash,
So quickly the light extinguishes.
Silence remains and where am I?
Still in darkness,
But now in the belly of the bewitching.
