Alex Sheena

Stronger

Longingly, he stares up at me
Never blinking,
Fixated on the contents of my hand.

Tongue drooping sideways
Eyebrows askew,
Holding his breath in anticipation.
The delicacy falls from my hand
Straight into the open maw of a hungry beast
To be swallowed whole.

Satisfied,
He goes away.
I know he will be back soon
But next time,
I will be stronger.
