Carl Pieri GreyhoundThe feet strike the ground
Like missiles on a beach
Exploding the sand.
The muscles contract and release
Like the pistons of an engine
Powering the body.
The bones strain
Like the steel of a building
Supporting the beast.
The jaw clenches
Like a ravenous boa
Grabbing the prey.
