What We Can See

An eye for an eye.
Life sucks, then you die.
We all know these words,
We believe in their truth,
But has anyone stopped
And dared to refute?
We are told that this
Is how it must be.
This makes no sense and,
If we trade eye for eye,
No one shall see.

Why stand with the masses if we know they are wrong?
Why stand behind, when we know we are strong?
Must we always swap eyes for eyes?
Or go through life waiting,
Just waiting to die?
Maybe we don't have to and,
While some might cry,
We can all get through life with both of our eyes.
