Perfection

Sit up straight, don’t talk back.
Perfection isn’t something you should lack.
Always listen to what you’re told,
even when you’re getting old.

Get straight A’s and study hard,
unless you want to work at a bar.
Hanging with friends is a waste of time.
Having fun is seen as a crime.

We grew up being told who we should be,
how we should act and not to disagree.
So many pressures being put upon us.
Why don’t they just relax and not make a fuss?

Stress is something we are put through,
trying to be perfect to please who?
Some people ask why would we care.
What others say should not bring despair.

But because of what everyone expects,
we try too hard to not be rejects.
If only someone would come out and say,
you’re perfect in every single way.
