| Katherine Stahl To WorryA foreboding sense of uneaseUnavailing, yet persistent.
A looming sense of dread and “what-if?”

Why can’t I stop you from stealing my thoughts?
A thief, you snatch away contentment
 Banishing peace and comfort.
 Keeping me hard-pressed
Fearing the worst of what lies ahead.

 Maybe you mean well
Perhaps you think this prepares me
 For what might come
 But you hold me back.
Your constant control over my mind
 Simply inspires doubt.

But locking you out is far from simple
 Distraction only imprisons you briefly
Before your menacing existence is made known again.

 You’re completely and utterly useless
Why can’t you be thrown away?
