Night Sky

The moon shines through the darkness
Hanging, a glittery orb in the night sky
I reach out to touch it
My fingers reaching, stretching, yearning
Its light radiating out, forming a thin haze
Enclosing the celestial body
Keeping it safe from my prying fingers
It looks so close and yet feels so far away
As I run my fingers through the deep blackness
They graze the side of a star
Sending it spinning into motion
Falling in all its glory
I reach out my open hands
It falls into my palm and I grasp it tight
Never letting go
