The Fly

Fly, stuck between the window panes

Valiant are your efforts at escape

Even as your short life wanes

You reject your morbid fate

Repeatedly you knock upon the glass

Determination great

But as the minutes creep past

Your efforts finally abate

Gradually you sink to the window sill

Your legs curl

Your body still

Your wings furl

Finally, it seems

You accept fate as true

And, in a dream

I bid you a silent adieu
