Kyoto Station

Incomprehensible noise all around me
A great human mass, standing, sitting, lying.
Pressed into the heat by the white hands,
Polite yet strong.

Everybody swayed, nobody noticed the intruder
One gold speck in a sea of black
A star shining in the dark,
Faint yet distinct.

Slowing down, some woke up from an uneasy sleep
Leaving to complete the same tasks,
Then the white hands were pushing again,
Polite yet strong.

Coming to a halt, I heard the usual words,
Knowing what they were, but unable to repeat.
Finally, I was able to move, breath, leave
As I walked out everybody watched.

They had all spotted the speck of gold,
Faint yet distinct.
