Empty Handed

Excitement was filling the car as the rain
came down upon us on our way.
To look for a new friend at last.
After all, it had been almost four years.
We pulled up in the lot and made
a mad dash for the building,
hoping, each one of us, that we wouldn't come out
empty handed.
