Snow

When snow covers the ground,

It falls on the earth like a great bridal trail,

Sprinkling and shining - its white dust,

It sprinkles the tops of the trees,

Like a backwards white shadow.

The world seems more silent,

When it is covered by snow.

As if all the animals

Were sleeping under the great white blanket -

A world quiet and perfect.

As if it might be broken

By a raised voice or a passing shadow.
