The Fighter

Fourteen years old
fighting to live blissfully,
trapped in an adolescent body
with Fear and Pain.

Every day she struggles to not give up,
but she says meaningless words
feels lifeless emotions
sees jarring stares

"You are perfect" people tell her,
she nods
but wants to scream
"You don't know me"

"How I force a smile
fake a laugh,
How I cry at night
hoping to get through tomorrow."

She looks around
passionate friends and family surround her,
and yet she feels lost,
pinned to a life she didn't choose.

She looks at herself
in the mirror
hating the dejected person
who appears

How much can she withstand
before God takes her hand,
pulling her up
up and away?

She wakes up
everyday
forces a smile
then walks away
