Visitor

2:27 a.m.
It’s here again
Uninvited. Go away.
It drifts around my room,
Emitting a sharp coldness, smelling like
blackberry musk and amber
growing more alluring every second.
Go away.

My mind begins to wander
I watch the beautiful figure
I hate it. I hate it.

I say no, I plead,
But temptation,
like a luscious, crisp red apple
hangs in front of a starving girl.
I even defeated it before
But just
not today –

Textbooks and papers gradually fade into blackness,
Clocks disappear under its piercing stare,
And I let its beautiful, pale fingers close around my hand
as it takes me to the shimmering land of
Procrastination
for just a few hours.
