Writing This Poem

I should have been done with this poem hours ago,

I just need to sit down, concentrate and go.

Although, that’s what I said at 6:11,

And the time has passed and it is 8:37

In hopes of buckling down I call an end to my Facebook stalk,

Yet stare at the computer screen and face writer’s block.

I try listening to music to help my mind flow,

Instead I became distracted by Youtube videos,

And the blank word document still sits here and glows.

Seeing as it is already 10:35,

I move upstairs to my room hoping to be inspired a little more,

But when I walk in I notice I cannot see the floor.

Seeing as the clutter is making my thoughts even less organized,

I begin to clean until the messiness of the room is disguised.

I admire my work but the feeling of satisfaction quickly disappears,

As I see that 12:23 on my alarm clock appears.

My jaw drops as I realize what little I have done throughout all the frustration,

Until I look up on my wall and see the words “focus on the journey, not the destination”.

This brings me the best idea today that has been brought,

So I run over to the computer before I lose my train of thought.
