Childish Getaway

Rays wraps you in a blanket.
Once comforting and warm,
Now scolds.
The sun unpredictably lashing out with rage,
Forces you from your seat in search of serenity.
Leaping through a battlefield of sharp points,
Stop.

Peace?
No.
Something better.
Cool and dense it greets you.
If only you could,
Stay under longer.
Your own secret, peaceful world.

Under,
The intensity of a wave but only sways your body.
Eyes squeezed tight, you can see everything.
A mermaid? A castle? Always a happy ending.
A throbbing in your lungs drives you to the surface.
Gasping,
Back to reality’s madness.
