To: Boots

Why were you so perfect?

You were always there for me,

but then you left.

I never had a chance to say goodbye.

We first met on that summer day,

in the barn as I saw your white boots come out of the darkness.

The feeling of friendship filling the air around us as we skipped home,

side by side.

Those hazel eyes,

ready to prance?

Ready to pounce,

on the next mouse that came by.

You ran off for the mouse,

leaving me behind.

I knew you would come back though,

you always did.

The ages and ages,

that we spent,

before I was left,

Crying.

You left me again,

for a final time.

And never came back,

not even for a mouse.
