Aldila Yunus

this couch is soft so we can never leave

Delicate, he lies upon my heart
while his cadence is pleasant comfort

            I am caged
            but entirely free

The way his breath – lush – bends
around the contours of my name

           I am intoxicated
           with childish delight

Those piano-hands ignite ivory, ebony
and stir my slumbering soul

          I am exhausted
          from playful laughter

My thoughts are sympathetic
double-edged perception has no home

          I am hopeless
          --perfectly captivated

Did you know? There is nothing more painfully right
than the overlap of lines on our palms and the
countless intersections of your
sun-drenched eyes
and mine

All at once in an ordinary infinite
I am found, lost

in you
