These Words

What is plain to see? Handed to us,
Staring at us, we do not recognize
In false hopes we make our own conclusions, reshaping thoughts
Inevitably what was meant has changed

How has this been caused?
Taking and twisting, fitting our thoughts
The accomplishment thought as good
Reverse, start again, uncover their truth

When did the changes start?
Perpetually handed down
Dug into our faultiness
Absurdity embraced, return their sovereignty

Why oh why is this?
Embraced by those who should doubt
Ignorantly claiming another’s, lies shaped
Inspired by Lateralus
