Staring Back

Who is that I see?
Staring back at me
those gloomy, empty eyes
where nothing but regret lies.

He puts on quite a mask
that hides how he feels
watching each day go past,
slowly.

They say if you look deep enough,
you can see their soul,
but why is it that when I look
there's nothing but a black hole.

So, I look a bit deeper
and am shocked at what I see
That's me I see
Staring back at me.
