New Ink

You said, “It’s just too late”
But you never took me on a date.
The weight of your shriveled heart
Took me at hello, but tore me apart.

We were not guided by fate,
Rather by the choices that led us to the gate
That revealed the path
To our constant wrath.

But now, I’m telling you:
I’ve removed your tattoo.
My heart has new ink,
And I’ve broken our link.
