Facing Life

Treading along the rim of the beach,
My feet sink into the moist sand
And leave behind a quiet line of footprints.
But the tides surge forward, washing away my past.

I look off into the distance,
The bustling, smoky city to the left
And a serene, silent ocean to the right,
A cornucopia of life and peace.

The cold, metallic skyscrapers
Scratch the pale blue sky
With its soft, floating clouds,
And etch their mark into the azure.

But following the line of clouds,
Down to the end of the horizon,
Blue becomes black.

A storm was approaching.
From the depths of the heavens
An ominous, dark force was brewing

Threatening the security
And tranquility of nature,
Ready to throw its wrath on the world.

But this time,
I was ready.
Never before had I felt both
Exhilaration and fear.
Without a doubt, I was ready
To take on this Leviathan.
A flash of lightning flickered by,
And the torrents of rain were ready,
But this time,
I would win.
