Watching, Wishing, Wanting

To be home
Safe, free and
Finally away from school.

A house is where the home is,
The place to do absolutely nothing.
Oh wait,
Time’s up.

Now looking out through the glasses of my house
Seeing the sun, the green grass, the mesmerizing sky
Imagining the brisk breeze
Smelling the whiffs of the grill.

My eyes widen
My face frowns
My freedom slipping away
Trapped by the true meaning of Homework
Dragged into the abyss of work
To do
At home.
